>Fort Wayne Mad Ants

>

Thanks to one the SLP’s advance scouts, Benjamin K. Shown, for pointing me to the brand spanking new Fort Wayne Mad Ants logo.

I’m loving it! It’s about time that the D-League had a team with some cojones. General “Mad” Anthony Wayne would be proud. I didn’t think that I could take anymore Los Angeles D-fenders, Anaheim Arsenal, Bakersfield Jam bore-fests.

This is one of the freshest nicknames and logos released this entire year. It has some flaws – the ant in the circle is a little awkward – but I don’t care, the whole package works especially when you take into consideration how cool the dunking ant on this poster is…

Now that’s how you build an identity and a brand. I’d be willing to bet that merchandise will be going “Mad Fast” too!

Team: Fort Wayne Mad Ants
League: D-League
Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Arena: Allen County War Memorial Coliseum

    >As a former Ft. Wayne resident. I have to ask; “this is a joke, right?” This isn’t the name of the team..is it?Exactly who won the contest with this suggestion?Just wondering in Ozona, Florida

    >As a logo it is heavy on the left side and as you pointed out the ant is “a little awkward” to say the least. As a new team in the basketball market their products should sell. At least the Ant is a tangable object that hasn’t been played out in the mascot/logo world. Thanks for keeping me up-to-date on the latest logos/teams in basketball world.

    >This message is for Silent Cal.No contest, at least none that I am aware. Residents were given 4 choices: Coyotes, Fire, Lightning and Mad Ants. – Coyotes & Lightning, “Fort Wayne Coyotes”… “Fort Wayne Lighting”, ’nuff said. – Fire, we had the flames (soccer) already; and how original *yawn*Personally I am a little disappointed that they couldn’t go with the good old Fury basketball. If there had been a contest I might have thrown “The Flood” out there with all the books they are hawking around town about it right now; but I don’t think any logo for that would be nearly so interesting as the one we got for the Ants.Mad Ants is a little odd, but at least its not a name pulled from the “names for professional sports teams” hat.

    >As to the General “Mad” Anthony Wayne comment…..having worked at a very nice seafood restaurant in the northwest, i can also tell you the Anthony’s restaurants…..oh yes, you have eaten at the one in Oly….(i believe)….are named after that guy too. The corporation name for Anthony’s is “Mad Anthony’s Inc.”When you come back up to the dreary northwest, you, me, and lil johnny need to go out and play some golf!!!!!Jim

    >I think it makes perfect sense to name the team the Mad Ants. It’s a great not to our cities history. Naming it the FURY would have been a huge mistake. The team is probably struggling enough as is to convince the sponsors and season ticket holders that got absolutely FRIED when the FURY pulled out of town leaving them high and dry… that they are not owned, operated or even in the same league as the former FURY. This is going to be serious basketball.

    >I have no idea how they came up with it, but “Mad Ants” is my all-time favorite team nickname. And the sci-fi reminiscent logo is eye-catching. All in all, a homerun for Fort Wayne and professional basketball, if you ask me.

  7. >Disney has released intensive animation movies of lots of animals, including lions, bears, elephants even ants. My niece made me go to see a film in which ants were the main protagonist, it was cool! Buy Viagra Cheap Viagra.
